Overview
The FortiGate FG-400F is a next-generation firewall appliance designed for enterprise networks requiring high-performance threat protection, secure networking and deep visibility. Leveraging Fortinet’s purpose-built ASIC/SPU hardware and FortiOS security-driven networking, the FG-400F enables converged networking and security, supporting advanced use-cases such as secure SD-WAN, segmentation, SSL inspection, and zero-trust access. The device is engineered to help organizations see applications, users and devices before they become threats, and to automatically verify and enforce user access to applications via universal ZTNA.
This model is highly suited for mid-sized to large enterprise edge or data-centre deployments where both high throughput and full security stack capabilities are required.

Features
AI/ML-powered threat protection & deep visibility
- Combines artificial intelligence and machine-learning techniques to identify and stop advanced threats, enabling deep visibility into applications, users and devices.
- Supports full SSL inspection and inline advanced sandboxing when paired with appropriate services.
Security-Driven Networking
- The device runs Fortinet’s unified operating system (FortiOS), providing converged networking and security capabilities within one platform — simplifying policy enforcement and management across network, endpoint and cloud.
- Enables secure SD-WAN, segmentation, edge protection and hybrid-IT support.
High performance hardware architecture
- Built on Fortinet’s proprietary SPU (and vSPU) hardware acceleration, delivering industry-leading throughput and low latency.
- Includes multiple high-speed interface options: e.g., GE RJ45 ports, GE SFP slots, 10GE SFP+ slots (including ultra-low latency slots) depending on variant.
- Offers redundant dual-AC power supplies for high availability and reliability.
Universal ZTNA (Zero Trust Network Access)
- Automatically controls, verifies and facilitates user access to applications — reducing lateral movement of threats by validating users and devices before application access is granted.
Integrated with Fortinet Security Fabric
- Fully integrates with Fortinet’s broader ecosystem of FortiGuard services, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, and other devices — enabling cohesive security across branches, cloud, data-centre and endpoints.
- Supports distributed deployments, clustering and high-availability configurations.
