Overview
The HPE Storage SAN Extension Switch B-series SN2600B is a purpose-built solution for extending storage area networks over long distances, enabling efficient replication, backup, and data protection across multiple sites. It helps organizations overcome latency, packet loss, and bandwidth constraints when replicating data between data centers. The SN2600B supports both Fibre Channel and IP-based extensions (FCIP, IP extension) and integrates WAN optimization, encryption, and advanced software features to deliver resilient, high-performance replication.
In its base configuration, the switch ships with several 32 Gb/s Fibre Channel ports and Ethernet ports to support WAN connectivity and management. Additional ports and software features can be activated via upgrade licenses.
This product is ideal for mid-sized data center environments requiring multisite synchronous and asynchronous replication, centralized backup, and disaster recovery capabilities.Features
- Hybrid Fibre Channel / IP extension: Supports FCIP and IP extension to carry storage traffic over WAN links.
- Adaptive Rate Limiting (ARL): Dynamically controls WAN bandwidth and limits congestion.
- Encryption & security: Supports IPsec (AES-GCM-256), authentication (ECDSA, Diffie-Hellman), and role-based access control (RBAC).
- Port on Demand / Modular licensing: Users can enable additional Fibre Channel ports, 10 GbE ports, advanced software features (Fabric Vision, trunking, routing) via licenses without replacing hardware.
- WAN-optimized TCP: Improves throughput over long-distance links and mitigates latency effects.
- Integrated diagnostics & monitoring: Built-in WAN test tools, FCIP ping/traceroute, path info, support for logs and diagnostics.
- Hot-swappable redundancy: Redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and cooling fans ensure high availability.
- High scalability & latency tolerance: Supports extension over RTT up to 250 ms and distances up to 25,500 km.
- Multi-protocol support: Supports Fibre Channel traffic, FCIP, IP storage, and simultaneous replication workloads.
- Management interfaces: CLI (SSH / Telnet), web GUI, SNMPv1/v3, SANnav, SMI-S, RADIUS, LDAP.
