Quantum ActiveScale P200

Brand: Quantum
Availability: In Stock
  • Overview

Quantum ActiveScale P200 is a scalable, high-performance object storage system designed for managing massive volumes of unstructured data across both “active” and “cold” data classes. It is built on the same ActiveScale architecture that supports extremely high durability, availability, and consistent performance from terabytes to exabytes. The P200 converged architecture integrates compute and storage functions into each node, allowing seamless growth and modular expansion as data demands increase.

The system is ideal for workloads such as AI/ML pipelines, analytics, content repositories, backup/archival, and multi-site data replication. It supports S3-compatible APIs for easy integration with modern applications, and offers advanced features such as erasure coding, dynamic data placement, versioning, and geo-spreading for resilient data protection.

    Features

    • Scalable architecture — Start small (e.g. three nodes minimum) and grow by adding nodes to scale throughput, capacity, and object count without disruption.
    • Converged design — Each 1U node contains both compute and storage components, simplifying deployment and scaling.
    • Dual-class data support — Handles both active (frequently accessed) and cold (infrequently accessed) data in one system, with policy-driven lifecycle management.
    • Erasure coding & data protection — Strong data durability using configurable erasure coding, continuous integrity checks, and self-healing mechanisms.
    • Dynamic Data Placement (DDP) — Automatically balances data across nodes to avoid hotspots and maximize resource utilization.
    • Geo-spreading / multi-site support — Enables deployments across two or three geographic locations (2-Geo, 3-Geo), with cross-site erasure coding to safeguard against site-level failure.
    • Strong consistency & versioning — Provides immediate consistency for S3 operations, versioning, and object locking to support compliance or protection against deletion.
    • S3-compatible API & NFS support — Applications can use standard S3 RESTful API, and NFS volumes can be exposed for legacy use cases.
    • Non-disruptive upgrades & expansion — Supports rolling upgrades and online scaling without downtime.
    • Enterprise-grade security — Encryption in transit and at rest, object locking (WORM-like), role-based access, and audit capabilities.
    • Optimized for both small & large objects — Intelligent policies adapt to object size to maintain efficiency.

    Specifications

    Specification / Detail

    Minimum System Configuration

1 base node + 2 expansion nodes (total 3 nodes)

    Drive Bays (per node)

    12 × 3.5" SAS/SATA (for high-capacity HDDs) + 4 × 2.5" 7 mm bays for NVMe / SATA

    Networking Ports (per node)

    4 × 25 GbE SFP28 ports (2 for internal node-to-node traffic, 2 for external client/public traffic)

    Power & Redundancy

    Redundant power supplies per node

    Site Requirements

Adequate rack space front/rear, grounding, cable routing, service clearance (e.g. front 48 in, rear 22 in)

    Compliance & Safety Certifications

FCC Class A, EN 55032 Class A, EMC / Immunity standards, CE marking, UL/CSA safety compliance

    Raw Capacity Options

E.g. with 12 × 24 TB HDDs per node yields 288 TB raw per node (depending on configuration)

    Expansion Behavior

New nodes typically must be equal to or greater in count than existing nodes for expansion steps

    Switch / Network Requirements

Use non-blocking L3 switches, support for VLAN tagging, inter-switch links (40/100 GbE or 10/25 GbE) for scale-out / HA topology
