Overview
The Quantum ActiveScale Z200 is an all-flash, enterprise-grade object storage appliance designed for demanding unstructured-data environments where ultra-high throughput, low latency and object-count scale matter. It is part of the ActiveScale portfolio which is built to handle both active (“hot”) and cold data at scale from terabytes to exabytes. The Z200 variant uses NVMe SSDs as its storage media and is optimized for high-speed data ingest, large-scale analytics, AI/ML workloads, and massive object counts. It supports the S3 API and integrates into private-cloud, hybrid-cloud and data-lake architectures, enabling organisations to store, access and analyse massive sets of object data with enterprise durability and scalability.

Features
- All-flash performance: Designed with NVMe SSDs to deliver significantly higher throughput and transaction count compared to traditional hard-drive based object storage.
- Massive scale-out architecture: The system can start with a few nodes and expand seamlessly to unlimited scale in both capacity and performance without disruptive rebalancing.
- Designed for both active and cold storage classes: The ActiveScale Z200 supports active data operations (fast access) as well as cold data retention (long-term archiving) in a unified namespace and management environment.
- High object count support: Capable of managing tens of billions of objects (at scale) with consistent performance, metadata handling and storage efficiency.
- High durability, availability and security: Built-in erasure coding, geo-spreading, object versioning and immutability capability ensure data protection and longevity.
- S3-compatible interface: Enables object access via S3 APIs, making it suitable for modern application workflows, AI pipelines and large-scale analytics.
- Compact form factor: Offers high-performance object storage in a 1 RU node design (in many configurations) for efficient rack-space usage.

Specifications
System & Architecture

- Minimum starting raw capacity: approx. 460.8 TB (for base 30 × 15.36 TB SSDs in the starting configuration) in an initial node cluster.
- Scalability: Unlimited scale-out of both nodes and capacity; object count support extends to billions of objects in minimum configurations and unlimited at scale.
- Client connectivity (front-end): Typical nodes support 10/25 GbE ports (for S3 object traffic) and may include additional high-speed interconnects for internal cluster traffic.
- Physical dimensions (example): Width ~43.7 cm (17.2″), Depth ~59.7 cm (23.5″), Height ~4.3 cm (1.7″) in the 1 RU chassis.
- Operating environment: Standard enterprise ambient – approx. 10 °C to 35 °C (50 °F to 95 °F) for safe operation.
 Capacity & Object Support
- Raw capacity (base node): ~460.8 TB (with 30 × 15.36 TB drives) in minimum setup.
- Object count: Starting at ~50 billion objects in a minimal configuration, scaling upward without fixed upper bound.
 Data Services & Management
